Aluminum Die Casting of Electric Vehicle Component

Aluminum Die Casting of Electric Vehicle Component

Marvin Winrich - Senior Functional Safety Engineer, Rockwell Automation

Two 6 axis robots (rated 150 kg and 60 kg) perform aluminum die cast steps for electric vehicle components:
- Pouring of molten aluminum into molds, and material transfer of finished parts; integrated with laser measurement, cutting saw, and conveyors.
- Operations at the floor and mezzanine levels.

The user’s corporate policy requires a risk assessment to applicable safety standards and verification of robot, electrical, and machine safety compliance with:

  • ANSI / RIA R15.06-2012, Industrial Robots and Robot Systems - Safety Requirements - Parts 1 and 2
  • ANSI / UL 1740 (2020), Standard for Safety - Robots and Robotic Equipment
  • NFPA 79-2021, Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery
  • OSHA - Machine and Electrical Safety
