Encoders / Resolvers / Tachometers
Control systems need to be able to accurately evaluate the speed and angle position of your mechanical devices. Encoders, tachometers, and resolvers allow your control system to make these evaluations while providing a framework for high-precision, fine-tuned control loops.
Encoders, also known as rotary encoders or shaft encoders, are devices that convert mechanical motion or angular position into electrical velocity or position information.
Resolvers, also known as motor resolvers, are a type of rotary electrical transformer used to measure rotation. They are commonly found in servo motor feedback applications.
Tachometers measure the rotation speed of a shaft or disk, your motor or other device. They typically display these speeds on analogue dial, but digital displays are becoming more and more common.
