Ball Screws & Lead Screws

Ball and lead screws both convert rotational motion into linear motion. However, each has its own places and situations where it is best used.
A ball screw is made up of ball bearings arranged symmetrically down a threaded shaft, which acts as a precision screw on the nut of the ball assembly. Ball screws can endure high thrust loads and deliver high precision with minimal internal friction.
Lead screws, also known as power or translation screws, are classified by their threading. Some examples of common lead screw threading types include acme, buttress, and the most efficient square varieties. Most automation professionals agree lead screws are best used intermittently in low-power actuators.
The ball and lead screws listed below are manufactured by our member companies using the highest quality, longest lasting materials available. Browse below to find out which ball and lead screws are best for your automation project.
