Industrial controls are devices that integrate your hardware and software with network connectivity in order to support your critical infrastructure.
There are several types of industrial controls you may need for your automation project, including:
- supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA)
- distributed control system (DCS)

DCSs are control systems that gather data and control the systems in a large facility in real-time on high-bandwidth, low-latency data networks.
SCADA systems gather remote, often geographically separated data through potentially unreliable or intermittent low-bandwidth/high-latency links. SCADA systems use RTUs (remote terminal units) to send supervisory data back to a control center.
