CoaXPress
CoaXPress (CXP) cameras are high-resolution cameras that use CoaXPress technology to connect to capture cards, also known as frame grabbers, via coaxial cables. CoaXPress is a digital interface standard that was developed in 2008 to transmit image data quickly in machine vision applications. The name is a combination of "express" and "coaxial" to emphasize that CoaXPress is faster than other standards and uses 75 ohm coaxial cables.
CoaXPress is suitable for applications that require high-resolution imaging and fast image transfer to a host computer. It can also be used to transmit other types of digital data. The standard supports different bit rates depending on the version:
- 1.0 and 1.1: Up to 6.25 Gigabits per second (Gb/S) per cable
- 2.0: Up to 12.5 Gb/S per cable
CoaXPress also allows for a low-speed uplink channel from the frame grabber to the camera, which can be used for camera control, triggering, and firmware updates.
