Amir Novini Receives Automated Imaging Achievement Award

ANN ARBOR, Mich., March 13, 2002 - Amir Novini, President and Chairman of Applied Vision Company, is the recipient of the 2002 Automated Imaging Achievement Award. The award, which was presented to Novini by the Automated Imaging Association (AIA) on March 7 at the annual AIA Business Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, honors industry leaders for outstanding contributions in promoting market acceptance of industrial and/or scientific imaging.
Novini has more than 20 years experience in the field of machine vision, having developed three generations of machine vision systems for applications in the automotive, defense and food and beverage container industries. He has served on the AIA Board of Directors since 1988 as well as two terms as AIA President. Novini is also a member of the Board of Directors and a past Chairman of the Board of the Automation Technologies Council (ATC).
A graduate of North East London University, Novini has authored numerous papers on machine vision and holds several patents. Prior to founding Applied Vision Corporation, he was the Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at LumenX Company.

'He has been a driving force in the vision industry for over 20 years, from his innovations as an engineer at the beginning of his career to his recent successful launching of a start-up vision company. '

Among past winners of the Automated Imaging Achievement Award are industry leaders such as Dr. Robert Shillman of Cognex, Ken Levy of KLA-Tencor and Pat Costa of RVSI, Inc. Nominations are now being sought by AIA for the 2003 award.
AIA's membership now totals over 215 machine vision suppliers, system integrators, end users, research organizations and consulting firms.
