SCARA
Selective Compliant Assembly Robot Arm (SCARA) robots are made up of an intersection of two robotic arms, both joined at the base of the robot. The robot's X-Y motions are dictated by two independent motors. These motors control the robot's movements through interpolation and inverse kinematic. Thanks to their unique construction, SCARA robots are able to manage several kinds of material handling processes.
SCARA robots are consistently the fastest of all the industrial robot types. They also tend to score the highest in terms of repeatability.
SCARA robots are often used in:
- pick and place operations
- small assembly operations
- sealant application
- machine tool handling
- dispensing applications
- electric appliance manufacturers
- home appliance manufacturers
