Proper grounding and equipotential bonding are prerequisites for stable automation network operation, but verifying the quality of an EMC-compliant installation requires measurement — not assumption. The EMCheck® Set bundles two complementary clamp meters that together cover the two most critical EMC acceptance measurements in industrial fieldbus environments: shield current levels on data cable shielding and loop resistance of the equipotential bonding system. Used together, the LSMZ I and MWMZ II provide the complete picture needed to confirm EMC installation quality, identify sources of fieldbus interference, and document compliance with DIN EN 50310 and related standards.
For expanded coverage including intelligent parasitic current detection and data logging, the EMCheck® Set XL adds the EMCheck® ISMZ I to the kit.
Kit Contents
EmCheck® LSMZ I: Leakage current clamp for measuring shield and leakage currents on data cable shielding and PE conductors in the 50/60 Hz and 5 Hz to 1 kHz frequency range.
EmCheck® MWMZ II: Mesh resistance measuring clamp for non-interruptive measurement of equipotential bonding loop resistance and impedance at 2.083 kHz.
EmCheck® LSMZ I
The LSMZ I is designed specifically for measuring low and high-frequency leakage and shield currents in industrial environments. Its adjustable measuring range covers 30 μA to 100 A, with the lower range providing the sensitivity needed to assess shield currents on PROFIBUS and PROFINET data cables against the 40 mA reference threshold. The large 28mm jaw opening accommodates cables in unfavorable installation positions, and the hold function supports maximum current capture during intermittent or sporadic interference events. Functions include True RMS measurement, peak hold, and standard multimeter clamp functions for voltage and resistance.
EmCheck® MWMZ II
The MWMZ II measures the AC resistance (impedance) of equipotential bonding conductors and cable shields without interrupting the conductor or requiring the system to be taken offline. A primary coil induces a voltage at 2.083 kHz and a secondary coil measures the resulting current, calculating impedance from the ratio of the two values. Results are displayed on an OLED screen with alerts triggered when dangerous voltages are detected on the measured conductor. The device records up to 300 measurements with timestamps for documentation purposes. Reference values per DIN EN 50310 are max. 0.3 ohms for PE/PA conductors and motor cable shielding, and max. 0.6 ohms for signal cable shielding.
