APS (Active Pixel Sensor) CMOS area image sensors from Hamamatsu provide NIR sensitivity and an advanced sensor architecture in which an amplifier is embedded in every pixel. Desirable for security (IR camera, palm vein authentication) or applications requiring position and shape recognition of IR spot light, these sensors include a timing generator, a bias generator and an A/D converter, plus digital input/output for easy handling. Rolling/global shutter and high-speed function readouts are also provided. The S11661 is SXGA format type (1280 x 1024 pixels), and the S11662 is VGA format type (640 x 480 pixels).
