What to Expect at the First Ever Humanoid Robot Forum

Experience the industrial evolution at the first ever Humanoid Robot Forum, happening October 7, 2024 in Memphis, Tennessee. Hosted by the Association for Advancing Automation (A3), this revolutionary event will delve into the latest advancements, strategies, and applications of humanoid robotics, machine vision, and AI transforming the industrial landscape.

For an industry hindered by labor shortages, manufacturing and logistics professionals have turned their attention to the possibilities of humanoids to fill these gaps and connect the automation silos within their facilities. Already in use at places like Amazon, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, humanoids offer the flexibility, dexterity, and versatility needed to complete numerous complex functions deemed too dirty, dull, or dangerous for humans.

Melonee Wise, chief product officer at Agility Robotics, maker of the humanoid robot, Digit, is excited to see where the industry is headed with this new technology. “After a decade of developing and deploying autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and seeing the excitement and adoption in the industry, I believe that the market for humanoids and mobile manipulation robots (MMRs) is on a similar trajectory. We are on the cusp of an exciting technological revolution."

On the Agenda

Wise will be delivering a keynote address entitled, “Humanoids at Work” on Monday morning. In it, she’ll share an update on current deployments of humanoid robots at work, what it takes to prepare a facility for the introduction of humanoid robots into the workforce, and what to expect in the next five years in terms of safety, collaboration, innovation, and use cases for humanoid robots.

Another highlight of the day will come from Jeff Cardenas, co-founder and CEO of Apptronik, who will discuss the recent advancements of AI and humanoid robot learning. He’ll provide examples of how humanoids with dexterous capability can augment today’s workforce in manufacturing and logistics facilities and prepare for future applications such as last-mile delivery and elder care.

Greater dexterity and functional safety, amongst other hot topics on the agenda, will shed light on how these humanoids will transform facilities while also keeping people safe in an era of human-robot collaboration.
