enVista Streamlines Energy Transport Logistics’ Operations with Multi-Site Mobile Device Integration Project

POSTED 03/12/2025

Energy Transport Logistics leveraged enVista’s end-to-end integration and consulting services to deploy 30 Zebra mobile devices.

The Company Energy Transport Logistics is a leading provider of reliable and efficient transportation services. The logistics provider offers comprehensive services, including bond processing and handling, brokerage services, CFS station, ocean and air, CY drayage and transload, expedited air, ocean and surface linehaul, local pickup and delivery, short- and long-term storage and warehouse and distribution. Headquartered in Phoenix, AZ, Energy Transport Logistics serves the United States and Mexico and operates 19 terminals.

The Opportunity

Prior to the start of this project, Energy Transport Logistics needed enterprise rugged equipment to mount into its fork trucks and interface with its transportation management system (TMS). At this time, the client did not leverage mobile computing or barcode technology that could electronically track the shipments coming into the dock, which meant everything was being done by hand. This manual process placed extra burden on personnel and inhibited the client from increasing efficiency at its terminals. Energy Transport Logistics’ goal at this time was to streamline information routing through its TMS as product was being moved onto the dock at each of its 19 terminals. Energy Transport Logistics needed support determining what types of equipment would best suit the organization’s unique requirements. The client requested a mobile device with a large screen that was compact enough to fit in the limited space available in the fork trucks. The large number of terminals that the client operated was one of its biggest challenges when entering this project. The client needed to implement the technology updates at all 19 terminals, but it needed the project to be completed quickly and efficiently so the business could begin to realize benefits as quickly as possible. Speedy setup and installation were critical for this project. Energy Transport Logistics selected enVista as its trusted enterprise technology partner for this project due to enVista’s deep knowledge level and experience with hardware and its ability to provide an end-to-end solution, including demo equipment for testing.

enVista's Solution

To begin the project, enVista’s enterprise technology team held a full day in person meeting to discuss requirements and solution options. Based on the unique needs of the client, enVista helped Energy Transport Logistics select Zebra as its technology vendor. enVista recommended Zebra ET-60 tablets and Zebra DS-3678 barcode scanners for the client’s terminals. Once the technology selection was complete, enVista’s team worked closely with Zebra to obtain the best pricing for the customer and make sure the team’s recommendations were in line with the client’s needs. enVista completed the entire sourcing process for the client, coordinating timelines for ordering and shipping the equipment, ensuring everything would arrive correctly and in a timely manner to deliver on the client’s implementation timeline. As part of the solution from enVista, SOTI MobiControl was implemented as Energy Transport Logistics’ mobile device management platform. The purpose of this was to provide the client with a centralized platform to manage and maintain all of its Zebra ET-60 tablets. enVista’s team sourced and implemented this platform for the client, and upon the arrival of the Zebra equipment, enVista’s team worked on the setup of SOTI and ensured all new devices were onboarding onto that platform. Throughout this process, enVista provided guidance to the client on implementing and configuring the software and provided highlevel support for any issues that arose during the initial rollout. The first rollout of this project was 30 devices across five terminals. Due to the success of phase one, Energy Transport Logistics will be continuing phase two of the project with enVista in 2025.

The Results

From phase one of this rollout, Energy Transport Logistics has already seen several benefits of having this improved mobile technology at its terminals. The client  has experienced:

• Increased customer tracking visibility

• Increased internal tracking visibility

• Increased loading/unloading accuracy

• Claims reductions by capturing photos at point of exchange

• Labor reduction by replacing manual processing during loading/unloading
