Italian Technology Awards 2025 Announced - Deadline April 25th, 2025

Call for Papers: U.S. universities are invited to bring students and faculty to Italy to participate in the Italian technology awards program for metalworking machinery.
The Italian Trade Agency has issued a Call for Papers for the 2025 edition of the Italian Technology Awards.
CHICAGO, Ill., FEBRUARY 13, 2025 - The Italian Trade Agency through its offices in the United States (ITA - https://www.ice.it/en/markets/usa) and its partners announce a "Call for Papers" for the Italian Technology Awards (ITA) 2025.
The Italian Technology Award program consists of a competition that asks upper-level students attending major universities in the United States to submit a paper on the relative innovation occurring in mechanical engineering-related industries and the problems they face. The purpose of the program is to enrich students' engineering education and advance knowledge of important issues within the metalworking industries for the next generation of engineering professionals.
The winners of the Italian Technology Awards (ITA), for this award program, selected as the best, will be awarded a one-week trip to Italy with activities scheduled for June 2-6 2025. The selected students and faculty will visit top Italian companies in the sector involved in the program and participate in an advanced educational program in Milan, as well as a series of cultural activities in various Italian cities.
The trip is part of the international Italian Technology Awards program. The ITA is sponsored by the Italian Trade Agency, through its office in Chicago and by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE (Italian Association of Manufacturers of Machine Tools, Robots, Automation Systems and Auxiliary Products - www.ucimu.it).
Italian Machine Tool Technology Award Program.
Submission Criteria: Juniors, seniors, and postgraduate students from U.S. universities participating in programs related to disciplines surrounding mechanical engineering may submit a paper based on real-world cases and addressing one of the following suggested topics:
Machine tools, robotics, and manufacturing technologies: research and innovation in materials, machining processes, and design, production, and control systems, with special reference to the digitization of the machine tool and mechanical manufacturing sector.
Sustainability (economic, social, and environmental): management, organization, and communication in machine tools and mechanical manufacturing.
Digital factory: applications of information technology, artificial intelligence, human-machine interface/collaboration and cybersecurity for the digitization of the machine tool and mechanical manufacturing sector."
Paper requirements: the paper should preferably be 10-12 pages, typed and double-spaced. Recent academic papers related to any of the above submission criteria may also be submitted. Attachments such as footnotes, images, photocopied materials, citations of sources, statistics, etc. are allowed. Papers must be submitted electronically by Friday, April 25, 2025, to the Italian Trade Agency in Chicago at [email protected], indicating in the subject line "Italian Machine Tool Technology Award Paper Submission" and full contact information for possible follow-up.
Number of winners professors/students:
One (1) US Professor and five (5) US Students will be awarded the trip to Italy this year.
Eligibility requirements for U.S. students and faculty - if not U.S.citizens:
Students and faculty, if not U.S. citizens with passports, must already have the necessary travel documents and visa eligibility to travel to Italy and must be proficient in English if not their native language.
Professors can be self-nominated, providing a CV and leading research/publications produced relative to the industry.
US Student Winners and Professors will be tentatively selected by the ITA and UCIMU, no later than 10 days after the deadline date.
