POSTED 02/06/2012
UXBRIDGE, MA – Lenze Americas, a leading global manufacturer of electrical and mechanical drives, motion control and automation technologies, is pleased to announce the appointment of Gene Wood as Director of Electro-Mechanical Operations, Lenze Americas. In his new role, Wood is responsible for heading up the Mechanical Product Assembly & Logistics Center in Glendale Heights, Illinois.
The newly-occupied 100,000 square foot facility will support the Lenze electro-mechanical product manufacturing operations and will allow Lenze to provide more flexible service and reduced costs for delivery of electro-mechanical products.
Key responsibilities for Wood include overseeing the Chicagoland facility operations and leading the manufacturing center for electromechanical products, where Wood will manage all aspects of manufacturing operations for gearboxes, motors and geared motors. He also is in charge of profit and loss for North American Distribution of Lenze products.
Since joining Lenze in 2003, Wood has held various positions within the company. He began as an operation and engineering manager, and grew into other roles including general manager, director of quality and service operations, and director of strategic programs. Prior to Lenze, Wood served as an engineering manager for Lucent Technologies.
“We are pleased to have Gene heading up operations at our new facility,” stated Chuck Edwards. “Gene has been a strong asset to Lenze for nearly a decade and his profound leadership and success with Lenze will help drive the new facility,” said Chuck Edwards, president, Lenze Americas.
The new Mechanical Product Assembly & Logistics Center will more than double Lenze’s North American electro-mechanical manufacturing capacity. Lenze selected local contractors to oversee the multi-million dollar Glendale Heights building retrofit. The industrial building renovations include an extensive office build-out for the Lenze sales and customer service teams. A state-of-the-art $1.2 million automated paint assembly line, powered by Lenze motors and gearboxes, will reduce painting time and expedite shipment of assembled products.
Lenze products are found in many industries including automotive, packaging, material handling and logistics, robotics, and commercial equipment. The complete line features ultra-efficient inverters, sophisticated servo automation systems, and robustly engineered gear motors and mechanical components. The relocation to the Chicago area will include all aspects of manufacturing operations for Lenze gearboxes, motors, and geared motors.
