Southwest Research Institute® (SwRI®) Robotics is a world-recognized research and development (R&D) organization, implementing advanced applications, creating unique integrations, and solving the most difficult challenges. SwRI-Robotics provides independent and expert R&D, engineering, advanced integration, prototyping, consulting, and support across the full spectrum of robot types, markets, and applications. SwRI curates the Robot Operating System-Industrial (ROS-I) open-source project, which is a global initiative steered by a consortium. The project creates software capabilities and applications for the industry based on open-source building blocks.

Based in San Antonio, Texas, SwRI is an independent and nonprofit applied R&D organization. It comprises around 3,000 engineers, scientists, analysts, and technologists who perform contract R&D for government and industry clients worldwide.
