Piaggio Fast Forward (PFF) was founded in 2015 by the Piaggio Group, the Italian manufacturer of the iconic brands Vespa, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi. Piaggio Group with a manufacturing and design legacy of 137 years, is a global leader in light mobility and the largest scooter and motorcycle manufacturer in Europe with 6,600 employees globally and distribution in over 100 countries. Piaggio Fast Forward, the technology and automation branch of the group is based in Charlestown, MA. PFF brings intuitive, efficient, safe, and scalable robotics solutions into the entire human-built environment. We add value and utility by augmenting not replacing workforces. PFF is also involved in the design and development of the innovative advanced driver assistance systems (ARAS) that debuted on the new Piaggio MP3 three-wheeler scooter. After perfecting human following technology on the consumer robots specifically intended for use in pedestrian-heavy chaotic environments PFF breaks ground introducing the PFF follow™ module. PFF follow™ unleashes the tried and tested gita® and gitamini® following technology, a mix of sensor fusion of cameras, depth cameras, and 4D radar optimized for the detection, prediction and interaction with humans at pedestrian speeds in all light conditions and in the built and natural environments. These smarts are packaged in a module that can convert any motorized platform into a following robot. Through its robust design, PFF follow™ is easily installed and integrated with any motorized or robotic platform. Follow technology can be used both indoors and outdoors and offers hands-free functionality for a wide variety of operational environments and applications. The PFF follow module has been developed to enable human or leader following by a human or non-human leader to any robot or vehicle.
