Founded by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers in 1986 as the Robotic Technology and Engineering Challenge under the guidance and inspiration of Tom Meravi and Dr. James Hannemann. Known as the National Robotics Challenge since 2005, this event is the longest continually operating robotics event in the United States and is the premier educational event for open-platform robotics competition. With entry fees that are low and no mandatory kit to buy, teams have more money to spend on materials and equipment to build robots. We keep our entry fees low by partnering with industry leaders who understand that supporting excellent educational experiences for today’s students develops the workforce they will employ in the future. The National Robotics Challenge is a program of EduEverything, Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding the use of technology and robotics education in our nation.
