Case Studies
Identifying and Sorting Dowels using AI Object Detection
Challenge
In manufacturing environments where components vary in shape, size, and positioning, traditional inspection methods often reach their limits. This was the case for a client dealing with dowels that frequently overlapped or touched. Additionally, subtle variations in features such as length and head shape led to inconsistent detection results. These limitations increased the risk of misclassification, ultimately affecting assembly quality and process reliability.
Solution
senswork deployed a custom-trained deep learning object detection model integrated into the Neuralyze® AI image processing platform. This software enables reliable detection and classification of different dowel types, even under these challenging conditions. The system leverages advanced AI algorithms to perform qualitative evaluation by comparing parts against learned reference features for real-time evaluation.
