SPOKANE, Washington – Wagstaff and LMI Technologies are jointly developing a new digital generation of laser technology, which is expected to improve the automation control capability of direct chill casting.

The new sensors will be designed to Wagstaff specifications and available exclusively through the casting technology specialist. LMI Technologies will create the new sensor by building upon the proven technological concepts deployed in its Selcom line of sensors.  With a prototype sensor already under evaluation at Wagstaff, the commercial availability of the product is targeted for early in 2003.

Wagstaff is headquartered in Spokane, Washington USA and is the leading manufacturer of aluminum casting technology.  The new sensor development will enhance the company’s product offering, which already includes a variety of billet and ingot casting systems, as well as a metal level control system.
