Ultrafast Dispersing Prisms Meet the Demands of Ultrashort Pulse Laser Systems
POSTED 05/21/2015
Three Substrates with Different Dispersing Properties Available
Barrington, N.J. - Edmund Optics® (EO), the premier provider of optical components, introduces its new Ultrafast Dispersing Prisms. These dispersion prisms are specifically designed to meet the unique demands of ultrashort pulse laser systems and are available with a wide range of dispersive properties.
Introduce negative or positive dispersion
Ultrafast Dispersing Prisms may be used to introduce negative or positive dispersion, depending on their alignment. Negative dispersion compensation allows the effects of other dispersive optical elements to be cancelled. Alternatively, in high power ultrafast applications, introducing positive dispersion stretches the pulse in time, mitigating the risk of damage to sensitive optical components.
Exclusive intracavity and extracavity characteristics
RoHS compliant Ultrafast Dispersing Prisms can be used intercavity for dispersion compensation caused by light passing through the fixed cavity optics. When the prisms are used extracavity, they are used to manipulate pulse characteristics. Ultrafast Dispersing Prisms are polished at Brewster's angle to minimize reflection loss.
Certified System Integrator Program

Vision system integrators certified by A3 are acknowledged globally throughout the industry as an elite group of accomplished, highly skilled and trusted professionals. You’ll be able to leverage your certification to enhance your competitiveness and expand your opportunities.
Three Substrates Available
Ultrafast Dispersing Prisms are available in three different 25.4 x 25.4 mm versions. The LaKL21 model features a Group Velocity Dispersion (GDV) of 600 fs2/cm. An SF10 model features a GDV of 1600 fs2/cm, while a UV fused silica version features a GDV of 350 fs2/cm. The GDV term determines how much a broadband pulse spectrally stretches or compresses. It should be selected based upon the laser source used or the dispersion requirements of the given application. Ultrafast Dispersing Prisms are in-stock and available for immediate delivery for fast turnaround and excellent value.
