The Vision East Show: A Huge Success!

2,534 Attend AIA's First Show on East Coast

Ann Arbor, Michigan - Jammed conference sessions, booths packed with potential customers and enthusiasm about growth in the machine vision market made The Vision Show and Conference East in Boston (April 4-6, 2000) a huge success, say officials at Automated Imaging Association (AIA).

"We were thrilled by the response to our first trade show and conference on the East Coast," said Jeffrey A. Burnstein, Executive Director of AIA.  "Exhibitors and attendees alike reported that the event far exceeded their expectations.  In fact, many companies who chose not to exhibit because this was a first time show are anxious to sign-up for space the next time we hold an East Coast event."

A total of 2,534 people attended Vision East, drawn by the chance to get in-depth technical information and to see and compare the leading suppliers of complete machine vision systems and components.  Included in the audience were a large number of visitors from Europe.

"We know that many of the attendees have been unable to attend our annual Vision Show on the West Coast and were anxious to attend a show closer to their company.  As a result, this show drew a large percentage of end users and OEMs with immediate needs for machine vision, which should help stimulate new market growth in the second half of this year," Burnstein explained.

Adding to the enthusiasm of the week was the official launch of Machine Vision Online, which AIA bills as the world's premier online resource for machine vision information.

"We had a steady stream of suppliers and users who wanted to take a look at Machine Vision Online.  They came away very impressed with the vast amount of information on companies and their products, as well as the technical papers, case studies, feature articles, news items, and links to leading research sites.  Clearly, Machine Vision Online was a needed resource for everyone involved in machine vision, and we look forward to making it a true community for our industry," Burnstein said.

At the show, AIA also released its new Machine Vision Market Study: 1999 Results and Forecasts to 2004, which showed that North American machine vision use jumped 29% in terms of units last year.  The 375-page study is available for sale from AIA Headquarters for $795 ($395 to AIA members).  

AIA's next event, The Vision Show West, will be held October 3-5, 2000, at the San Jose (CA) Convention Center.  With the upturn in the semiconductor industry, AIA expects a vibrant show similar to the enthusiasm at Vision East.
