Schneider Buys Century Precision Optics

Hauppauge, NY - Schneider Optics, Inc., well known in the motion picture and television industries for lenses and filters that set new, higher standards, announced today that the company has purchased Century Precision Optics, located in North Hollywood, California.

Century Precision Optics designs and manufactures professional lenses and lens accessories used by filmmakers and videographers worldwide. Founded in 1948, Century first gained a reputation for lens repair and custom modification. Since then, a stream of new shooting tools has emerged, including periscopes, low-angle prisms, a broad range of video lens accessories and custom lens conversions. In 1992, Century received a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Century is also the Exclusive U.S. Distributor for Angenieux Super 16 and 35mm cine zoom lenses.

According to Dwight Lindsey, Senior Vice President of Schneider Optics, "Century Precision Optics is a strong company with innovative products. By bringing the technology that Schneider has developed over 87 years to this acquisition, we expect to be able to enhance Century's already impressive capabilities, particularly in the area of new product development.
