RoHS Compliant Industrial Scanners and 2D Imagers
RENTON, Wash., May, 2006 ¯ In early compliance with the RoHS/WEEE directives, Microscan has completed conversion of its line of industrial scanners and 2D imagers. Such RoHS-compliant products are in high demand with equipment manufacturers as the clock ticks down to the July effectivity date of the European regulations.
The RoHS/WEEE directive was established by the European parliament and the Council of the European Union. It restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in imported electrical and electronic equipment. Effective July 2006, member states must ensure that equipment put on the market contains almost zero amount of lead, mercury, cadmium, haxavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated dephenyl ethers (PBDE).
Microscan's commitment to early compliance with RoHS/WEEE initiatives is further validation of Microscan's concern for the environment. Additionally, 90% of all Microscan packing materials are recyclable, and 90% of Microscan plastics are recyclable through minimum use of glue, coatings and inserts.
