Radiant Vision Systems Introduces INSPECT™ R1 Software Toolkit for Advanced Machine Vision Applications
POSTED 07/10/2020
Radiant Vision Systems, a leading provider of automated visual inspection solutions for electronic components and displays, announces the release of a new software toolkit for advanced machine vision inspection tasks, INSPECT™ R1 Software.
Used with a ProMetric® Y-Series imaging system, the user-configurable INSPECT R1 Software can be applied to detect subtle, low-contrast cosmetic defects on surfaces, and perform finish uniformity evaluation to assess cosmetic quality. Makers of high-value products and components seek to meet customer expectations of product appearance and assembly. This level of manufacturing control requires quality inspection that reflects human visual perception and discernment, but with greater consistency and objectivity.
“INSPECT R1 enables our customers to solve the kinds of challenging inspection problems that were previously beyond the capabilities of traditional machine vision systems,” says Doug Kreysar, Chief Executive Officer at Radiant Vision Systems. “INSPECT R1 Software is the latest of Radiant’s Advanced Vision solutions, leveraging the precision of our high-resolution, low-noise imaging systems combined with powerful vision tools and fully customizable analyses.”
To address the need for advanced visual inspection, manufacturers of high-value consumer devices, automotive components, medical devices, and more can apply the INSPECT R1 toolset to analyze images to identify any number of subtle, low-contrast, diverse features simultaneously. INSPECT R1 supports assessment of features that are both intentional (e.g., logos and icons) and not (e.g., dings, dents, and scratches, or finish non-uniformity) to ensure cosmetic finish quality. INSPECT R1 enables customers to apply specific defect tolerances for pass/fail determinations in production, matching their unique requirements.
“INSPECT R1 is designed to give engineering teams a flexible set of image pre-processing and analysis tools that they can easily apply to and adapt to their unique cosmetic surface inspection application,” explains Hubert Kostal, Radiant Vice President of Business Development, who has led the company’s Advanced Vision initiatives. “Users can customize visual inspection tasks using their own in-house resources and retain full control of the resulting solution and intellectual property (IP). Additionally, the INSPECT R1 workflow engine supports rapid prototyping that readily transitions to production line applications.”
Paired with a Radiant ProMetric® imaging system, INSPECT R1 Software provides a complete toolkit for easy and flexible set up of inspection routines to support a wide range of visual inspection applications including:
- Automated visual inspection of device surfaces to detect dings, dents, scratches, and finish non-uniformity
- Verification/Inspection of logos and icons
- Product tracking, reporting, and manufacturing history for traceability and process control
