Perry West Receives Automated Imaging Achievement Award

ANN ARBOR, Mich., February 27, 2003 - Perry West, President of Automated Vision Systems, Inc., is the recipient of the 2003 Automated Imaging Achievement Award.  The award, which was presented to West by the Automated Imaging Association (AIA) on February 6 at the annual AIA Business Conference in Orlando, FL, honors industry leaders for outstanding contributions in promoting market acceptance of industrial and/or scientific imaging.

West is the founder and president of Automated Vision Systems, Inc., a leading consulting firm in machine vision, founded in 1981 at the start of the machine vision revolution.  His firm concentrates on in application development, system design and development, business opportunities, and education and training.

West received his BSEE from the University of California at Berkeley.  Before founding Automated Vision Systems, he held positions with EG&G Reticon, Fairchild Semiconductor, Hewlett-Packard Laboratories, and Watkins-Johnson.  He is a past President of the Machine Vision Association of SME.

'It's great to see one of the industry's pioneers win this award,' said Jeff Burnstein, executive director of the AIA.  'Perry has played a key role for more than two decades in helping our industry grow, and is extremely deserving of this award.'

Among past winners of the Automated Imaging Achievement Award are industry leaders such as Amir Novini of Applied Vision Company, Dr. Robert Shillman of Cognex, Ken Levy of KLA-Tencor and Pat Costa of RVSI, Inc.
