New Camera Link 80-Bit Frame Grabbers
POSTED 11/30/2016
Active Silicon introduces its fast and feature-rich FireBird Camera Link 80-bit (Deca) board, available now in three form-factors, in full height or low profile (half height) PC form-factor and also in the embedded format of 3U CompactPCI Serial.
The three versions of the FireBird Camera Link 80-bit (Deca) include:
- A full height PC form-factor version with front panel IOs.
- A low profile PC form-factor version, designed especially for use in small embedded PC enclosures and 2U rackmount chassis.
- A 3U cPCI Serial form-factor version with extended temperature range for demanding embedded applications.
The FireBird Camera Link 80-bit supports all Camera Link configurations from Base to 80-bit (Deca) on a single card and also includes the ability to simultaneously capture from two independent Base cameras. A Gen2 x4 PCIe bus is used, which can sustain 1.7Gbytes/s throughput and is fast enough to cope with the full data rate the Camera Link 80-bit interface can support. The board features comprehensive I/Os for trigger, optical encoders, exposure control and general I/O. Power over Camera Link (PoCL) is also supported.
Designed for ultimate performance, FireBird uses Active Silicon’s proprietary DMA technology, “ActiveDMA”. This technical innovation applies RISC based processor techniques and guaranties zero CPU intervention, high speed and low latency image data transfers.
The FireBird Camera Link 80-bit is supported by Active Silicon’s PHX Software Development Kit (SDK), which allows rapid system development and integration. The SDK is available for a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Linux (32-bit and 64-bit environments), Mac OS X and QNX. Drivers for third party applications are also available such as Cognex VisionPro, Common Vision Blox, StreamPix, LabVIEW etc.
FireBird is fully GenICam compliant, making this frame grabber compatible with all Camera Link cameras that support the CLProtocol, including those using GenCP.
