Machine Vision Online Traffic Soars in 2001
POSTED 10/29/2001
Ann Arbor, Michigan - Average weekly visits to Machine Vision Online have more than quadrupled since the site was launched in April 2000, according to the Automated Imaging Association (AIA), sponsor of the industry web site.
'For the past month, we've averaged over 4,500 sessions per week, and have twice topped the 5,000 mark,' said Jeffrey A. Burnstein, Executive Director of AIA 'The site continues to exceed our goals, and has emerged as the best resource on the Internet for machine vision information.'
Burnstein said that visitors to Machine Vision Online seek information about new products and potential machine vision suppliers. As a result, they're using the in-depth Buyer's Guide on the site in increasing numbers.
'As the use of machine vision expands in manufacturing and non-manufacturing applications, we believe Machine Vision Online is becoming the first stop for companies investigating products that can meet their specific needs,' Burnstein said. He noted that AIA plans several improvements to the site in the coming months in order to make it easier for visitors to find products and suppliers that can help them.
Other popular items on the site are feature articles, free technical papers, case studies, daily news updates, opinions and event information .
'We're delighted at how many different parts of the site visitors explore, because it shows how hungry they are for in-depth information about machine vision,' Burnstein said.
Burnstein said that much of the traffic to the site is generated through AIA's year-round promotional efforts to make users and potential users aware of Machine Vision Online . 'We know that some visitors come through search engines and other indirect means, but the majority of the traffic is driven there by AIA efforts. We're after a highly-qualified audience of people who can benefit from machine vision, so we promote the site to users and potential users in industries such as automotive, consumer goods, electronics, food & beverage, medical device, pharmaceuticals, and semiconductors.'
Visitors to the site can subscribe to receive free monthly updates. AIA is careful not to email to subscribers more than twice per month. 'There are many sites that email daily or weekly that frankly become a bother after a while and lose their effectiveness. That's why we think readership of Machine Vision Online is very high - when our audience receives an update from us, they know it contains valuable information,' Burnstein asserted.
Founded in 1984, AIA is the only trade association in North America organized specifically to promote the use of machine vision technology. Its 230 member companies include leading suppliers, system integrators, end users, research groups and consulting firms.
