Machine Vision Online Rates High Among Readers

POSTED 11/08/2000

Website brings together vision suppliers and users

ANN ARBOR, Mich., November 7, 2000 - A recent survey conducted by the Automated Imaging Association (AIA) of Machine Vision Online readers revealed that subscribers consider the site to be a valuable resource for information on vision technology and the machine vision industry.  (Click here to subscribe for free!)

The online magazine has been live since April 2000 and includes feature articles on machine vision technology, daily news updates on the technology and the industry, a comprehensive machine vision Buyer's Guide, technical papers, case studies, an events calendar, an online bookstore and a Career Center .

Visitors to the site can also request bids on products and services, participate in live chats and receive advice from industry insiders through the 'Ask the Experts' section.
'Machine Vision Online is already established as a treasure-trove of information for machine vision users,' said Jeffrey A. Burnstein, AIA's Executive Director.  'That's why more than 1,000 people now visit the site each week, a number that is growing steadily and will continue to grow as more people learn about Machine Vision Online.'

The readers are doing more than just visiting the website, according to AIA.  'Our readers are also using the site as a springboard to find out more about AIA members and their products.  Fifty-six percent of the survey respondents said they have purchased machine vision technology in the last six months.  Of those, 50% said Machine Vision Online helped them identify products and/or suppliers,' said Burnstein.

Burnstein also said that AIA is constantly improving the site.  He cited as an example the recent expansion of the Career Center , where job seekers can now post their resumes for exclusive review by AIA members.  'People looking for jobs in the machine vision industry can rapidly accelerate their search by using this new feature of the site,' Burnstein explained.

Soon, AIA will increase the frequency of when new updates are emailed to subscribers.  'We currently send monthly emails to our subscribers.  However, the subscriber survey indicates that readers would like to be updated at least twice a month because they find the information so valuable.'

Founded in 1984, AIA's membership now totals some 215 machine vision suppliers, system integrators, end users, research organizations and consulting firms.  In addition to Machine Vision Online, AIA is best known for The Vision Show, the industry's leading trade show and conference, its annual Machine Vision Market Study (the 2000 edition is now available) and its annual Business Conference, which brings together top executives from machine vision companies throughout the world (next event slated for February 7-9, 2001 in Orlando).
