Another Lemelson Patent
In January, another patent issued from Jerome Lemelson's original 1954 patent application.  This patent is entitled 'Image-Modification Methods' and will likely be held out by the Lemelson Foundation as another in the line of Lemelson's machine vision patents.  The patent number is 6,169,840, and can be found online at www.lemelsonpatents.com.

Licensing Program Winding Down?
On the licensing front, Lemelson lawyers recently sent out a 'warning' that the window of opportunity for getting a license might soon close.  They say that the details of the licensing program's termination are under consideration and will be passed along soon.  With a trial date approaching in the Cognex case, perhaps this is the Lemelson Foundation's move to get as many licensees signed up before the decision in that case.
