Leading North American Rigid Film Manufacturer Selects Cognex for Web Inspection

NATICK, Mass. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - July 17, 2001:  Cognex Corporation, the world's leading supplier of machine vision systems, announced today that a leading North American producer of high-quality, rigid films has integrated three of Cognex's SmartView™ web inspection systems on their manufacturing lines.

The company will use the SmartView systems to inspect plastic film for contaminants, gels, holes and other defects as it is being manufactured.  The film is used to make blister packaginin the pharmaceutical and medical packaging industries.

SmartView is a state-of-the-art web inspection system that is used to automatically detect, identify and display defects in plastics and other materials as they are being produced.  Cognex has sold over 100 SmartView systems since its product launch in February, 2000, making it the most successful product launch in the history of Cognex's Surface Inspection Division.
