Largest Machine Vision Show in North America Set for Boston, October 30 - November 1
POSTED 10/29/2001
Ann Arbor, Michigan - More than 110 companies occupying some 18,000 square feet of exhibit space will demonstrate the latest machine vision products at The Vision Show East at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, October 30-November 1, 2001.
'We're very proud of the support the machine vision industry has demonstrated for The Vision Show this year, especially in light of the continuing downturn in capital equipment expenditures and the recent terrorist attacks,' said Jeff Burnstein, Executive Director of the Automated Imaging Association (AIA), the industry trade group that sponsors the event. 'The fact is that the machine vision industry is alive and well, and is open for business.'
Burnstein said that when capital equipment expenditures turn upward again, machine vision is likely to be near the top of the buying list for many manufacturing companies. 'There are a growing number of applications in industries such as semiconductor, electronics, automotive, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, medical device, and consumer goods that are perfect for machine vision technology. That's why the industry has experienced such strong growth over the past several years, and will resume its growth in the near future.'
An in-depth technical conference, beginning on October 29, accompanies The Vision Show East. Leading experts from throughout the world will offer presentations that provide practical, real-world guidance on how to successfully apply machine vision technology.
The conference will focus on non-traditional applications for vision as well as established applications. Among the newer applications to be explored are the use of machine vision for security purposes, work zone monitoring, inspection of concrete roof tiles, and detection of road surface defects.
'We expect to see machine vision utilized to a much greater extent in non-manufacturing applications in the years ahead. The technology is ready and the needs are there,' Burnstein said.
Started in 1996, The Vision Show is the largest annual machine vision event in North America. The show alternates between the East and West Coast. The next event will be held November 19-21, 2002 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California.
AIA, which was founded in 1984, represents some 230 suppliers of machine vision components and systems, as well as major end users, research firms, and consulting groups. In addition to The Vision Show, AIA is best known for its annual machine vision market study, Machine Vision Online, and the annual Business Conference.
