Field Tests Reveal New Power In DVT Legend 510 SmartImage Camera

POSTED 11/05/2003

DVT Legend 510 SmartImage SensorDuluth, GA, November 4, 2003 – Recent field tests have demonstrated that the DVT Corporation Legend 510 SmartImage Camera has exceeded parameters initially reported by the company, making it the most powerful CMOS vision system on the market today at its price level.

The $1,995 price for this fully-functioning complete vision system includes DVT’s free, extensive four-day classroom training, free online and CD-based training, free online diagnostics, and free software upgrades.

‘‘We can now say with full confidence that no other CMOS vision system can compete with the Legend 510 in terms of power and cost,’‘ commented DVT Chairman and CEO Bob Steinke. ‘‘We are putting an awesome amount of power in the hands of our customers at a price that is unheard of on today’s machine vision market,’‘ he said.

In tests conducted by DVT Automation Solution Provider Gibson Engineering, the Legend 510 was required to determine the angle of a small round part within .5 degrees and then guide a robot to pick up the randomly-place part and place it precisely in an assembly. Peter Bedard, Application Engineer at Gibson, reported the Legend 510 demonstrated measurements accurate within .1 degree in static tests and .18 degrees in dynamic tests.

The speed of the Legend 510 in terms of parts per minute inspection is on a par with CCD cameras. In addition, sub-pixel measurement is within the 510’s capabilities.

The Legend 510 is streamlined to feature the full inspection power of the Legend series without reader capabilities. The 510 will operate with DVT’s easy to use Windows-based Framework software, and will include the integrated ring lights, Ethernet-compatibility, and 640 X 480 pixel resolution found in other Legend models.

DVT’s corporate vision is based on the concept of Servant Leadership, which means putting the needs of others ahead of our own. DVT puts the needs of its customers and partners ahead of its own needs.
