DVT SmartImage Sensors Now Used in KMV Technologies InnerVision X-Ray Unit
Atlanta, July 14, 2003 – Machine vision and x-ray vision have come together in a ‘‘perfect marriage’‘ that allows DVT Smart cameras to perform the full range of their monitoring and inspecting capabilities on components that are hidden to both the naked eye and conventional machine vision technology.
Rockford, Illinois-based KMV Technologies has developed a breakthrough solution that brings the power of x-ray vision to the smart camera world. Vision enabled x-ray imaging produces results with extraordinary analytical capabilities at production line speeds in applications that involve non-transparent elements. The KMV Technologies InnerVision x-ray unit is suitable for inspecting injection molded parts, liquid levels in non-transparent containers, pharmaceutical tubes, electrical connectors pin alignment, and virtually any other machine vision application with parts that are hidden from view.
‘‘This application demonstrates the power of combined technologies—the industrial x-ray and the DVT SmartImage Sensor,’‘ said Bob Steinke, Chairman and CEO of DVT Corporation. ‘‘KMV’‘s experience with machine vision has enabled them to create a unique solution for the industrial marketplace.’‘
KMV Technologies President Karl Floody stated ‘‘With this unit, DVT Smart Cameras can perform their full array of functionality in applications that, before this time, could not be handled by conventional Smart Cameras. There is vast potential here for hundreds of new applications and we want to move aggressively into this untapped arena.’‘
Because the unit uses low-level x-ray intensities, no harmful x-rays are emitted while in operation, making it completely safe for operators. The DVT Legend 540 camera is built into the unit, making operation easy and efficient. The unit can be easily configured for automatic in-line or rotary table inspection as well as manual off-line shuttle systems.
Headquartered in Duluth, GA, DVT Corporation ignited the machine vision revolution in the early 1990s with SmartImage Sensors and has continued to upgrade, enhance and integrate the technology into the most cost-effective vision systems in the industry. Starting at $2995, all SmartImage Sensors are Ethernet ready. Whether implemented as a simple, direct connection between the SmartImage Sensor and a computer, or as a connection that crosses the globe via the Internet, DVT exploits the Ethernet’‘s architecture to bring real-time inspections and remote diagnostics to any aspect of a company’‘s enterprise.
DVT’‘s corporate mission is based on the concept of Servant Leadership, which means putting the needs of others ahead of your own. DVT puts the needs of its customers and partners ahead of its own needs.
