Dr. Steven Case Receives Automated Imaging Association Achievement Award

(Ann Arbor, Michigan - February 2, 2006) Dr. Steven Case, Chairman of CyberOptics Corporation, is the recipient of the 2006 Automated Imaging Achievement Award. The award, which was presented to Case by the Automated Imaging Association (AIA) on February 2 at the annual AIA Business Conference in Orlando, Florida, honors industry leaders for outstanding contributions in industrial and/or scientific imaging.
‘‘Dr. Case is being recognized for his extensive engineering innovations in the field of automated imaging,’‘ said Jeffrey A. Burnstein, Executive Director of AIA. ‘‘His exceptional business acumen enabled CyberOptics to achieve commerical success over the past two decades and become an international vision industry leader.’‘
Dr. Case founded CyberOptics Corporation (NASDAQ:CYBE) in 1984 and it has since grown to over 200 employees and revenues of $64 million. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota, a Fellow of the Optical Society of America and a charter member of the Machine Vision Association of SME. He has served on the National Board of Directors of the American Electronics Association and is the past President of the Surface Mount Equipment Manufacturers Association. He received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Michigan in 1976 and in 1978 was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for research at the Applied Optics Institute in Erlangen, Germany. Dr. Case holds 28 patents for optical and laser devices and has presented over 80 contributed and invited papers at optical and electronic conferences.
He joins an impressive list of past winners, some of the recent recipients include: Dr.-Ing. Founded in 1984, AIA is the world’s largest machine vision trade group, representing over 245 member companies from 24 nations. Members include leading suppliers of complete vision systems, vision components, system integrators, end users, OEMs, consulting firms, and research groups.
