Basler Starts Series Production of “ace” Camera Models With 2 and 4 MP Resolution and up to 340 fps

POSTED 10/17/2011

rong>Unique combination of excellent image quality, high speed and small camera housing
Basler ace
Ahrensburg – Basler has started series production of  the next models of their popular ace area scan camera series, the acA2000-340km/kc and the acA2040-180km/kc.

The Basler ace cameras use the CMV2000 2 megapixel (MP) and the CMV4000 4 megapixel sensors by CMOSIS. They offer 340 frames per second at 2 MP and 180 frames per second at 4 MP resolution via a Camera Link interface. The sensors run in progressive scan mode and use a global shutter for very precise imaging results and a less complex system layout compared to rolling shutter.

Basler ace cameras with CMOSIS sensors offer an outstanding price/performance ratio. They are currently the smallest cameras based on these sensors and feature very high speeds, an exceptional image quality and a very attractive starting list price of 1,090€.

Small Size and Power over Camera Link Save Space and Money
The compact 29 x 29 x 43.5 mm housing and less than 90 grams overall weight allows users to build smaller systems and to use the cameras in space-critical situations. Since power is supplied via Power over Camera Link (PoCL), only one cable per camera is required which saves space and reduces cost for the overall system.

Outstanding Image Quality at High Speeds

The data measured according to the EMVA 1288 standard shows that the image quality, even in such a very compact housing, is comparable to many parameters for standard CCDs and outperforms current generation CMOS sensors by far. The quantum efficiency is exceptional, providing an extremely sensitive camera with low dark noise values that yield a dynamic range normally typical for high quality CCD sensors. Basler ace CMOSIS cameras can even replace standard CCD sensor based cameras with a 29 x 29 mm form factor while providing much higher speeds.

Basler Vision Technologies is a leading global manufacturer of digital cameras for industrial applications, medical devices, traffic systems, and the video surveillance market. Product designs are driven by industry requirements and offer easy integration, compact size, and a very strong price/performance ratio. These characteristics are the decisive factors allowing Basler to hold a leading position in the GigE Vision arena today. Founded in 1988, Basler has more than 20 years of experience in vision technologies and offers one of the broadest product portfolios in the industry. The company employs around 300 people at its headquarters in Ahrensburg, Germany, as well as in international subsidiaries and offices in the U.S., Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan.
