Basler Announces Preliminary 2006 Results and Substantial Increase in Turnover

Ahrensburg, 02 March 2007 – Basler-VC ended 2006 with a substantial increase in turnover and earnings. We are proud to announce that turnover rose by 46% to 23.29 million euros (2005: 15.9 million euros). Only ten years after its inception, the Vision Components division has established an extremely promising position among the three global leaders supplying digital camera solutions to capital goods producers.

We believe that factors on both the product and marketing sides of our business are making this growth possible. On the product side, exciting new product launches let us enter new markets. Last year, we introduced almost 50 innovative camera models, a major milestone in the division’s history. In addition, we won some large contracts for customized camera designs. Customization represents a major share of our total business today and will remain an important element of our strategy in the future.

On the marketing side, we continuously expanded our worldwide sales, distribution, and support network in Europe, the US, and Asia. As a result, our brand recognition has grown greatly in recent years. We have been enjoying particularly strong growth rates in Asia, which now contributes about 30% to our worldwide revenue.

On a corporate level, turnover rose by 16% to Euro 52.1 million (2005: Euro 45.0 million). With respect to the year 2007, Basler AG is well prepared for further expansion of its promising position in the vision technology growth market and expects profitable growth. The incoming order volume in 2006, which exceeded turnover, is the first factor supporting this expectation.
