Lucid Vision Labs, Inc. is a new company that designs and manufactures innovative machine vision cameras and components that leverage the latest technologies. The company's compact GigE Vision cameras are suited for a wide range of industries such as factory automation, medical, life sciences and logistics. Lucid Vision Labs, Inc. was founded in January 2017 and is located in the greater Vancouver area, Canada.
Rod Barman is the Founder and President of Lucid Vision Labs, Inc. Previously, Rod was the Founder, President and VP of Engineering at Point Grey Research, Inc. For 19 years he directed and managed Point
Grey’s year-over-year growth into a worldwide leader of high-performance industrial cameras. Torsten Wiesinger is the General Manager of the EMEA region for Lucid Vision Labs, Inc., responsible for developing and growing Lucid’s presence in the EMEA market. Before joining Lucid, Torsten has gained over 15 years of experience in the machine vision industry, notably as the CEO at IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH, and more recently as Sales Director at MVTec Software GmbH.
As of now, the company offers three product lines: The Phoenix camera series, the Triton camera series, and the Arena Software Development Kit. The Phoenix is a micro compact camera with a versatile board design, measuring only 24 x 24 mm and making it the world’s smallest GigE PoE camera. The Phoenix camera features NF-mount and lens options to provide an even smaller footprint, saving 40% in size compared to equivalent C-mount lenses. The first models to be launched in Q1 2018 will feature 3.2 to 5.0 Megapixel models using the IMX265 and IMX264 Sony Pregius CMOS sensors. The Triton is a compact, 29 x 29 mm IP67 GigE Vision machine vision camera. It features a dust proof and water-resistant camera enclosure and lens tube designed to be used in a variety of industrial environments such as food inspection and agriculture where dust, dirt or water can be present.
The company’s new Arena Software Development Kit (SDK) provides customers with access to the latest in industry standards and computer technology. The SDK supports Lucid’s GigE Vision cameras on both Windows and Linux platforms.
"We started this company with a shared vision - to build innovative cameras and components that help customers solve their unique design challenges today in order to succeed in their vision tomorrow," writes Barman in the company’s mission statement. "For digital imaging technology to keep up with current and emerging applications, it must be fluid, it must be inspired. We innovate dynamically to create products that meet the demands of machine vision for Industry 4.0. It is an exciting time to be part of a new era of industrial production where machine vision will play a central role in smart manufacturing."
