AIA to Administer Camera Link Specifications
Ann Arbor, MI - The Automated Imaging Association (AIA) has announced that it will take over the administration and development of the Camera Link ™ specifications, an industry initiative to develop an interface protocol that includes standardized interconnects between cameras and frame grabbers.
The pioneering work on the specifications was done by an informal group of AIA members headed by PULNiX America. The spec is based on an implementation of National Semiconductor's Channel Link ™ technology.
Camera Link ™ defines a single connector for both the frame grabber and the camera, ensuring that all products bearing the Camera Link ™ logo are interchangeable with each other.
"AIA has decided to take over the administration and development of Camera Link ™ because our membership overwhelmingly favored our involvement," said Jeffrey A. Burnstein, AIA's Executive Director. "It's likely that AIA will become involved in more standards development activities as time goes on, since valuable standards benefit both users and suppliers of machine vision."
AIA will host a meeting on Camera Link ™ on Thursday, November 1 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston during The Vision Show East. Anyone interested in attending the meeting should contact Jeff Burnstein by email at [email protected] or by telephone at 734/994-6088.
Founded in 1984, AIA is the only trade group in North America organized specifically to serve the field of machine vision. Its 230 member companies include leading machine vision suppliers, system integrators, end users, research firms, and consulting groups.
