AIA Seeking Nominees for Board of Directors; New Election Procedures Announced
AIA is seeking nominees for new two year terms on the Board of Directors that will begin in February 2015. For the first time, the voting will be finalized after the annual A3 Business Forum, allowing candidates to attend the event and meet with members prior to the election. Additionally, candidates will be able to send AIA a two-minute video on what they can bring to the AIA Board, which AIA will post on the Vision Online website for weeks leading up to the voting.
“These new procedures will make it easier for candidates to better educate the members on their views, which is especially important for candidates who aren’t as well known in our industry,” said Jeff Burnstein, President of AIA.
The deadline for nominations is November 5, 2014. Up to two people per open seat will be on the ballot. Candidates who are selected for the ballot (by the AIA Board if there are more nominees than spots on the ballot) will be notified in mid November and will have until mid-December to submit their two-minute videotapes. Voting will begin in early January and end on January 30, with the winners taking office in early February.
