AIA Introduces New Machine Vision for Robot Guidance Workshop
POSTED 07/14/2003
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – July 11, 2003 – The Automated Imaging Association (AIA) introduces the Machine Vision for Robot Guidance Workshop, a new event focused on technical issues and actual applications of machine vision for robotic applications. The workshop is scheduled for October 8-9, 2003 at the Sheraton Detroit Novi Hotel (formerly the Novi Hilton).
The two-day event will include tutorials on the fundamentals of machine vision and lighting and optics, as well as presentations on 2-D and 3-D robot guidance fundamentals, case studies of successful applications, calibration and kinematics concepts and how to minimize complexity. Topics and speakers include:
- The Fundamentals of Machine Vision – What Every New User Should Know, Valerie Bolhouse, Ford Motor Company
- Lighting & Optics for Machine Vision, John Merva, Advanced Illumination and John Stack, Edmund Industrial Optics
- Vision-Guided Robots: 2D and 3D Technology Overview, Adil Shafi, SHAFI Inc.
- 3D Vision Guidance to Automate Engine Head Handling, Frank Maslar, Ford Motor Company
- Robotic Bin Picking: Unloading Randomly Placed Gears from Static Bins, Richard Meyer, FANUC Robotics America
- Vision Guidance for Robotic Assembly, Phil Heil, DVT Corporation
- Robot Vision for Depalletizing of Mixed Pallet Loads, Stephan Wienand, ISRA Vision Systems
- Using Vision and Conveyor Tracking in the Machine Shop Environment, Jack Justice, Motoman
- Calibration-Free Vision-Guided Robotic Control, Gary McMurray, Georgia Tech
- Visual Line Tracking – Application Overview and Issues, Donald Demotte, FANUC Robotics America
‘‘Delivering a better bottom line is a must in today’s highly competitive manufacturing environment,’‘ said Jeff Burnstein, executive director of AIA. ‘‘This workshop was developed specifically to demonstrate how machine vision guided robots can increase throughput, improve quality, reduce costs and develop process improvements – all essential elements for remaining competitive.’‘
