A Message from the AIA President
POSTED 12/17/2009
As 2009 comes to a close, we are all hopeful that the worst of the global economic problems are behind us.
Members are now reporting an increase in orders and “quoting” activity that started in fall and is continuing through the end of the year.
Most analysts believe that we will not see a “double-dip” recession in the U.S. and that solid economic growth should be evident by the second half of the year. The Chinese economy is picking-up fast, creating new business opportunities for machine vision companies around the world.
The machine vision industry has recently rolled out an enormous number of new products, taking advantage of the 2009 slowdown to accelerate product development.
At AIA we remain convinced that machine vision is a critical technology for companies in virtually every industry. And, we’re committed to expanding our role in educating companies about the benefits of machine vision and to helping our members find new market opportunities.
One of our key upcoming initiatives to help achieve these goals is the launch of our new Machine Vision Online website, which will go “live” early in 2010. The new site will feature far more functionality that our current site and provide easier navigation for users. We are very excited about the site and plan to preview it at the upcoming AIA Business Conference in Orlando, January 20-22, 2010.
We’re also looking forward to The Vision Show in Boston, May 25-27, 2010. We expect that show to be extremely successful as it appears to be timed to take advantage of a recovering U.S. economy and a growing demand for machine vision products.
These are just two of many important AIA initiatives planned for the coming year. Look for exciting announcements on other new activities very soon!
On behalf of the AIA Board of Directors and staff, I want to thank you for your continued support of AIA and offer you best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season!
Jeff Burnstein
President
