Quality control inspection in the production of rear-view sensors
Overview
In the production of automotive rear-view sensors, consistent quality across high volumes and multiple product variants is essential. The customer required a system capable of inspecting different sensor types within a single machine while maintaining high throughput and accuracy. senswork developed and implemented an advanced optical inspection solution for a globally active French automotive supplier, supporting reliable quality control throughout the entire production process.
Solution
senswork designed and implemented a modular inspection system consisting of four interconnected modules controlled by a central system. The machine integrates seven ready-to-install VisionUnit camera systems for comprehensive optical inspection and defect detection.
Different sensor types are processed within the same system, then automatically packed and stacked into designated trays. The machine is equipped with two SCARA robots, a freely programmable rotary indexing table, and two gantry systems, enabling efficient handling, positioning, and sorting of components.
This setup ensures seamless inspection across the entire production line while maintaining flexibility for different product variants.
Results
The solution’s modular design enables flexible and scalable production while maintaining a fast cycle time of 3.5 to 4.2 seconds per sensor. It delivers very high precision and reliability in defect detection, ensuring consistent product quality across different sensor types.
