The client required a solution that could inspect labels from a considerable distance beyond 3 feet, while maintaining high inspection accuracy.
Solution
To meet this requirement, we deployed a specialized camera system designed for high-precision inspections within robotic cells. Key features of this system included powerful spot illumination and advanced optical character verification (OCV) capabilities. The system allows for a more intensive yet even illumination of the labels from over 3 feet away, ensuring that every detail is captured with clarity. Our solution included the following components:
- High-Intensity Spot Illumination: The spot illumination enables strong, even lighting that enhances image clarity for better inspection quality. This powerful lighting compensates for the distance, ensuring accurate inspections without requiring the camera to be placed close to the labels.
- Data Matrix Code Verification using AIM-DPM Standards: The camera system verifies the quality of data matrix codes in compliance with AIM-DPM (Direct Part Marking) standards, which are critical for maintaining traceability throughout the automotive manufacturing process.
- 100% Optical Character Verification (OCV): The system performs comprehensive checks on printed symbols and texts, ensuring they meet required quality standards. By using OCV, the solution ensures that every label meets the specifications for legibility and accuracy.
