Raw cast gear shafts must endure extreme environments and meet precise standards to perform effectively, making their inspection challenging. Because these parts are complex and uneven, achieving fast and reliable inspection requires advanced technology. To address this need, senswork introduced an advanced 3D inspection system powered by their VisionCommander® software, specifically designed to meet these demanding requirements.

Application

senswork’s 3D inspection system integrates multiple inspection technologies to ensure thorough analysis. First, the shell surface of each gear shaft is scanned using high-precision 3D laser scanning, which captures even the smallest irregularities and deviations. In addition, two specialized 3D surface sensors are used to inspect the end faces of the gear shafts, ensuring that no imperfections are overlooked. All collected data is then processed by VisionCommander® software, a high-performance image processing solution that analyzes the sensor data and delivers accurate evaluations within seconds.

The Results

The vision system enables a complete 360° inspection of every gear shaft, ensuring reliable detection of chipping, shape deviations, and diameter variations across all important surfaces. At the same time, it supports high-speed evaluation, allowing production efficiency to be maintained without delays. The solution also provides consistent performance even in harsh industrial environments, making it well-suited for demanding manufacturing conditions.
