Air Bearings: Precision Motion Stages at 2016 Photonics West by PI
Air bearings are used for precision positioning stages because of their geometric accuracy and frictionless, wear-free performance. This demonstration includes a PIglide XY Stage (planar design) with air bearings run by an ACS motion controller, a small air bearing rotary stage and a large spherical air bearing such as used for satellite zero gravity simulation.
