How a Cash Recycler Became a Digital Experience That Trains, Sells, and Transforms

Smart Selling, Scaled

When Tidel needed a smarter way to showcase and train users on its TR400 cash recycler, shipping hardware to events or running in-person demos wasn’t scalable. Instead, they partnered with Mainstay Digital to create a self-guided, interactive 3D experience. The result replaced physical assets, streamlined onboarding, and transformed their trade show ROI with a smaller booth, lower costs, and higher engagement.

When Shipping Equipment Doesn’t Ship ROI

The TR400 is a powerful, multi-function cash recycler. But demonstrating its value requires more than a spec sheet or a brochure. Tidel’s field teams needed a consistent way to walk users through tasks like shi management and cassette handling, and their trade show team needed a way to demo the machine without shipping a thousand-pound unit.

The problem? Freight, drayage, and booth space add up fast. A standard 10x20 booth can cost upwards of $25,000 when shipping and setup are included. Multiply that by several shows per year, and the math stops working.

They needed a training and marketing tool that worked harder without getting heavier.

How a Virtual TR400 Became the Star of the Show

Tidel worked with Mainstay to create a fully interactive, choose-your-path 3D simulation of the TR400. Built to reflect real-world use, the experience allowed users to explore the machine’s interface, components, and workflows at their own pace.

Modules included:

  • System Console overview.
  • Start of Shift and End of Shift procedures.
  • Manual Drop function.
  • Report navigation and usage.
  • Cassette Rack and Coin Hopper Rack handling.
  • Full 360° product view.

At trade shows, this experience replaced the need for physical equipment. Attendees engaged with the TR400 through touchscreens, walking through key actions on their own, oen spending more time at the booth than they would have in a line to see a real unit.

What It Delivered: Engagement That Pays Off

Saved an estimated $12,000 per event
By eliminating machine shipping, rigging, and oversized booth costs.

Doubled average dwell time
Visitors spent twice as long at the booth compared to previous years, thanks to hands-on interaction.

Improved training consistency
A repeatable, always-available experience gave partner teams and field reps the same high-quality training.

By swapping crates for clicks, Tidel unlocked measurable business value.

These results aren’t just flashy, they're foundational. In a market where every second and square foot matters, Tidel proved that digital-first engagement is more eective and more scalable.

Built to Scale Beyond the Show Floor

The 3D TR400 model didn’t stop working once the exhibit closed. Tidel repurposed the experience to:

  • Train internal teams and onboarding partners.
  • Support virtual sales presentations with embedded product walkthroughs.
  • Offer hands-on product education to prospects on their website.

It’s now an evergreen asset with year-round utility, not just a one-o trade show gimmick.
