v style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">In this special webcast, Executive Editor Bob Trebilcock, Group Editorial Director Michael Levans and Jeff Burnstein, president of the Robotic Industries Association, will explore the range of exciting new robotic solutions now available and where they may fit in your materials handling operations. This program airs online August 12, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. EDT. (Register for this webcast.)

For years, industrial robotics has been relegated to repetitive processes, like spot welding or palletizing at the end of the manufacturing line.

That's beginning to change.

A new generation of stationary and mobile robots, coupled with software and materials handling automation, is emerging. These new technologies are creating opportunities to streamline traditional picking processes and to develop highly-automated mixed SKU palletizing solutions.

Attendees will be brought up to date on:

• The current state of robotics in materials handling
• What processes are candidates for mobile or stationary robotics
• The operational characteristics that need to be in place to deliver an ROI
• How robotics can optimize semi-automated processes or leverage the investment a company has already made in other automation technologies

In this special webcast, Executive Editor Bob Trebilcock, Group Editorial Director Michael Levans and Jeff Burnstein, president of the Robotic Industries Association, will explore the range of exciting new robotic solutions now available and where they may fit in your materials handling operations.

About Jeff Burnstein
Jeff Burnstein joined RIA in 1983 as Manager of Public Relations. In the ensuring years, he has served as Director of Marketing & PR and Managing Director the Automated Imaging Association (AIA), a trade group serving the machine vision industry created by RIA in 1984. In 2007 he was named President of RIA and AIA, as well as the Motion Control Association (MCA), a trade group serving the motion control industry. RIA, AIA, and MCA are under the umbrella of the Automation Technologies Council (ATC), which Mr. Burnstein also heads.

He oversees a staff of 13 at the ATC Headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Combined, ATC represents some 550 automation companies. Key activities include development of industry standards, collection of industry statistics, sponsorship of leading trade shows and conferences, and publication of three industry websites: Robotics Online (www.robotics.org), Machine Vision Online (www.machinevisiononline.org), and Motion Control Online (www.motioncontrolonline.org).

Prior to joining RIA in 1983, he held public relations positions at the Society of Manufacturing Engineers as well as the Central Business District Association of downtown Detroit. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Michigan.
