Bots in the News:

The Bonditos dominated the equity market with fears of rising interest rates and sinking expectations of any Fed relief in the foreseeable future. Consequently the  S & P 500 fell nearly two percent while the NASDAQ-influenced Bot Index dropped two and a half percentage points. Interestingly, however, it was the Asian component of the Bot Index that was hardest hit. OMRON Corp. led the losers with an eleven percent decline, while NIO Inc. fell ten percent. Other weakness was noted by the nine percent fall of Hiwin Technologies and a seven and half slide by Immersion Corp.

iRobot was the best performer again this week with a 5.45% increase and Intuitive Surgical gained 2.27%. There was only one other gainer, Azenta that improved by 2.33% following its
weakness in the prior week.

Waymo is Wayless…..And that’s a good thing!
Our friends at Human Progress sent out an analysis funded by the insurance company Swiss Re that prompted the authors to headline in its Doomslayer edition entitled ‘Waymo Drivers Are Way Safer (10x) than Humans’. The research analyzed 25.3 million fully autonomous miles driven by Waymo, noting an 88% reduction in property damage and a 92% reduction in bodily injury claims over standards. Human Progress postulated that ‘Waymo is on an exponential learning curve, with every mile driven adding to its knowledge base.” Since its initial foray into the vehicle industry in 2009, the company has increased its ability to help transform the industry in positive ways.

Hurricanes and wild fires aside, the ability to reduce risk in the P & C industry will be a boon to consumers and the companies that serve the public.
