Robotic Cow Milking Exemplifies New Applications; Robots 2008 Examines “What’s Next”

POSTED 01/22/2008

Tuesday, January 22, 2008 (Robotics Online) – In the dairy industry, robotic milking machines are the focus of a one-hour seminar at the 2008 New York Farm Show (New York State Fair Grounds, Syracuse, New York). The seminar starts at 10 a.m. on February 22, and features presentations from users and makers of the robotic milking systems.

Dubbed ‘‘Dairy Robotonomics,’‘ the event is sponsored by American Agriculturist magazine. According to the publication, 50 to 60 robotic milking units will be installed at New York and Pennsylvania dairy farms this year. Robot systems made by DeLaval and Lely will be highlighted in the program and on display in the exhibit areas.

‘‘We see the use of robots growing in many types of industries, and at the Association we keep asking: ‘What’s next?’‘ said Brian Huse, Director, Marketing and Public Relations for Robotic Industries Association. ‘‘It’s exciting to see robotics applied in a farming environment. That goes to show how wide open the possibilities are. RIA has a two-day event in June called Robots 2008 that examines new trends and successes for robots, from medical to service industries and beyond.’‘

Robots 2008 is June 11-12, 2008, at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts. It features case studies and a tabletop trade fair, and is held in conjunction with The Vision Show. Insiders from the robotics and machine vision industries will be in full force as the co-located events engage experts from professional networks that comprise Automated Imaging Association and Robotic Industries Association.

Details for Robots 2008 will be posted on Robotics Online in February. Details for The Vision Show are posted on Machine Vision Online now.
