RIA Food Robotics Webinar - Free during April National Robotics Week
POSTED 04/13/2010
National Robotics Week is the second week of April during which Robotic Industries Association offers a free webinar on Food Robotics. RIA is the only North American trade association devoted solely to robotics.
A guest from the USDA joins a panel of RIA members to talk about sanitary design and implementation of robotics during the Association’s Food Robotics webinar, April 15, 2010, from 3 to 4 PM Eastern.
“We examine how robots are used from ‘soup to nuts’ in processing food whether it is protein, candy or the latest energy drink,” said Brian Huse, Director, Marketing & PR for Robotic Industries Association. “Cold, wet or generally unpleasant jobs are perfect for robots and the use of robots contributes to improved food and worker safety.”
There are many RIA members that offer products tailored for strict hygiene and harsh washdown conditions, said Huse. This webinar covers how robots can safely process raw ingredients; improve primary and secondary packaging; handle pallets and even load delivery trucks. The speaker panel includes representatives from the USDA and RIA members ADVENOVATION, Adept Technology, Applied Robotics and Schneider Packaging Equipment Company.
As of 2010, the U.S. Congress has designated the second week of April as National Robotics Week. Robotic Industries Association is an official member of the advisory council for this effort. Sponsors of other events list their activities at www.nationalroboticsweek.org. RIA events for National Robotics Week are posted on Robotics Online.

On April 14, 2010, RIA examines “Career Opportunities in Robotics” with a panel comprised of RIA veterans from academia and industry. Engineers, faculty and those interested in engineering are invited to discover the exciting possibilities in education, research and industry. Simulation software and real-world applications are examined. (1-2 PM Eastern, April 14, 2010)
About Robotic Industries Association
