Motoman Robotics Releases Software Functions to Simplify Seam Finding

POSTED 11/09/2010

oman Robotics releases new software functions that greatly simply the teaching of touch-sense for seam-finding applications.  Touch-sensing is a proven technology that allows robots to locate seams in workpieces prior to applying the weld.  This new functionality is delivered in the form of macro jobs, which allow users to enter data on a single screen.

An auto-learn feature enables the robot to search for the part location which is easier than manual teaching and results in more accurate offsets.  Auto-learn detects the plane of the work piece and is used to adjust the robot position relative to the work piece.

The macro jobs package is compatible with several Motoman Robotics seam-finding products.  Including touch-sensing, the Accufast laser seam-finder and Servo-Robot’s SF-D/H laser line seam-finding camera.  Macro jobs provides standard routines for a variety of joint conditions; single 1D touch, Tee joint 2D touch, 2D Lap touch, 3D corner or edge touch, and inside and outside circle touch.
